Pleasant Run & Taylor Elementary Schools are Rising Stars

Posted on: June 8, 2017

Pleasant Run Elementary School and Taylor Elementary School received recognition as “Rising Star” Breakfast All-Star Schools for their outstanding efforts to increase school breakfast participation. Both schools have offered additional daily alternatives to their regular menus, and the district had tweaked the breakfast menu a bit.
Lisa Robison, Supervisor of Food Services for Northwest Local School District, says “the benefits of breakfast are well known; studies show students who eat breakfast at school have better concentration, better attendance and are more likely to have improved nutrition. Pleasant Run Elementary & Taylor Elementary encourage all students to participate in the School Breakfast Program so they start the day healthy and ready to learn.”

* School Participation Rates were obtained through a self-reported survey conducted by the OSBC partners. The School Breakfast Program is a federal child nutrition program administered by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employee. More information about the School Breakfast Program can be found here.
