In December 2016, the Ohio General Assembly passed House Bill 410 to encourage and support a preventative approach to excessive absences and truancy. The information below will explain how and where each absence is calculated toward Excessive Absences and/or Habitual Truancy. Once a student meets the threshold for Excessive Absence, a letter is sent informing the parent of this event. In the event a student meets the threshold for Habitual Truancy, an AIP (Absence Intervention Plan) meeting will be scheduled and a plan put in place.
