I want to thank our office staff, Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Erhardt,  for all of their hard work in getting students scheduled, supplies ordered, and many other jobs they have done over this very busy summer.

I also want to thank our custodial team at CE, Mr. Howard, Mr. Emmert, and Mr. Lamb for assisting the custodial teams in getting not just our building ready for staff and students but also all the other buildings throughout the district.

I also want to thank Mrs. Helmes for all of her hard work in working on schedules and sitting in on meetings throughout the summer in order to ensure the students and teachers are set up for success.

We are extremely excited for our K-2 students this year. The district has adopted a new ELA Series from National Geographic. The series aligns well with the state standards and the needs of our students. The teachers participated in professional development during the summer to  prepare them for this change in programming. We also have teachers  in grades 3-5 who have agreed to pilot the same program this school year.

I am very excited to share that we will be able to provide interventions for both reading and math in grades K-5 this school year. We have a wonderful intervention team consisting of our Reading and Math Specialists, Intervention Specialists, and our Title I Assistants.  Students who qualify will be getting intense interventions to help them grow and meet grade level expectations.

We did receive our scores back from the state of Ohio on our state testing. Although we did not meet any of the state indicators, I am very proud to say that not only as a district, but as a school we made great gains across all grade levels and content areas. The programming that we put into place is working and as we move into year two of our new model, we are expecting even bigger gains. We will continue to strive to meet the indicators the state gives us. I am extremely proud of  our third grade reading scores. We had the highest percentage of students proficient in the district. I want to thank everyone who was  instrumental in achieving this ranking including the teachers, specialists, tutors, students, and parents. Well done!

Finally, I want to inform all of you that we will continue to provide the best instruction out there for OUR students at Colerain Elementary. We will continue to keep safety and security at the utmost highest level for OUR students at Colerain Elementary. If at any time you need to talk or discuss concerns, do not hesitate to contact me at 385-8740. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year and am very excited to see the students in the building. It has been very quiet in these hallways this summer. I hope to see all of you on Meet the Teacher/Open House August 15 from 4-5:30.

Enjoy the remainder of your time off and see you soon!

Mr. Climer
