Posted on: November 6, 2017

The road to success is paved with hard work and dedication. For Ethan Stout, there is no limit to the paths you can take to get there.

Stout, a senior in Butler Tech’s Business Program at Colerain High School, was named 2017 Business Student of the Year award by the Colerain Chamber of Commerce for demonstrating leadership in his community and making a positive impact in his school.

“This is a great opportunity,” says Stout. “I am incredibly proud to represent Colerain by receiving this honor.”

The Business Student of the Year award is given to an employed senior who is enrolled in a Butler Tech Business or Manufacturing Program within the Northwest Local School District. This is the first year for the award.

Stout is already embedded in the business world as a co-op at Cincinnati Financial, where he works 15 hours a week. He continues to be a leader and active participant in a number of academic organizations and activities, such as Business Professionals of America, DECA, the Colerain High School football team, and Caring for Cards, an organization that helps welcome new students.

“I believe it’s important to be involved and take advantage of every opportunity around you because it helps you gain a lot of experience.”

Stout also volunteers in his community through church outreach and hosts birthday parties at his local skating rink on weekends.

“Connect to your community, be involved and network. It’s the best way to get your name out to organizations,” explains Stout when asked what advice he’d pass on to students.

Stout graduates in May 2018 and plans to further his education in Business with a focus on Marketing at either Bowling Green State University or the University of Cincinnati. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and wants to pursue online business full time.
