Pre-school & Kindergarten Enrollment 2017/2018 School Year

Preschool enrollment packets are available in the Houston Pre-School office for next school year.

Preschool registration night is Thursday, Feb 9, 2017 4:00-6:00pm at the Houston Early Learning Center (Doors will open at 4:00pm and numbers distributed- first come, first served)

Enrollment packets may not be turned in prior to that date and they must be returned to the preschool office only.

Open to any child who will be 3 yrs old, but not yet 5 yrs old, on or before Sept 30, 2017.

You must bring: completed packet, birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of income, child's social security card, parent ID (driver’s license/state id) and $25.00 (non-refundable) registration fee.

There may be openings for this school year- contact the Houston Early Learning Center preschool office at 385-8000.

Kindergarten Packets available on February 6th.  Packets are available at any elementary school and at the Enrollment Office.

Kindergarten Registration begins March 1, 2017

Two Kindergarten evening registration dates - Tues. March 21st and Thurs. March 30th - 5:00pm-7:00pm.



                                                 April - 2017 

The transfer of students out of their attendance areas shall be in accordance with the Northwest Local School District's intra-district open enrollment policy and administrative procedures.  The application forms for the 2017-2018 school year are available at the Houston Educational Service Center, 3310 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45251, beginning April 10th and must be received by 4:00 pm, April 28, 2017.  Applications are to be completed by the custodial parent/guardian.  Proper ID is required. Please complete an application for each student.  Applications will not be accepted or processed after this deadline. 

Notification letters will be mailed by June 16, 2017.   



               *  The student must be currently enrolled in a Northwest School District school.

               *  Parents must be permanent residents in Northwest School District.

               *  Guardians must be permanent residents of Northwest School District, children

                   must live with their guardians in Northwest School District.

               *  If transferred, students must attend the school of choice for the entire school


               *  Transfers are granted for one year.  Parents/guardians must reapply annually.




               *  Transfer requests are reviewed under the following criteria:

                              The number of spaces available in each school is determined by  

                               building, grade and program capacities.

                              Student's discipline and attendance records.

               *  Transfer approvals will be determined by a lottery if applications outnumber

                   available spaces.

*     Transportation to the school of choice will be provided under the following   


Students must be picked up and dropped off on the regular bus routes and stops in the school of choice attendance area. 

                              Buses serving the school of choice must have space available. 

                              Parents must take application directly to the Transportation Department 

                              on the form received when the transfer is granted.

Read Across America – Cincinnati Public Library

We're celebrating National Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss's birthday on Saturday, Feb. 27! All children 12 and younger will receive a FREE ticket to the Duke Energy Children's Museum with a paying adult when they show their library card or sign up for one on-site. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will be facilitating hands-on literacy activities and holding story times throughout the day.

Don't miss these other fun-filled activities in the Children's Museum:

Story Time:  Join us for a different story every half hour from a Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County librarian.10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Books with Historians: Listen to a story read by our costumed interpreters from the Cincinnati History Museum.1 p.m.

Joel Sings:  A fun and interactive performance in the P.A. Corbett theater from Joel the Singing Librarian.1 p.m.

Tales to Tails:  Practice reading aloud by reading a story to one of our friendly therapy dogs.2 p.m.

Farbach Werner Maple Sugar Time
