Dear Families of Houston Early Learning Center,

Welcome to 2019!  I hope each of you had an enjoyable Winter Break and were able to spend meaningful time with family and friends.   The teachers, staff, and I are eager to continue the journey of nurturing every student’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development. Additionally, we welcome positive, parent-student-staff relationships and encourage you to volunteer in the classroom, in the library, and attend HELC’s school-wide events.

Below you will find a list of upcoming events to attend:  (additional information will be provided)

  • Time with Daddy (or significant adult)  January 17, 2019

  • Preschool Registration – February 6, 2019 – 4:00-6:00 p.m.

  • Literacy Week in the Library – February 11-15, 2019

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences – March 12 and March 14, 2019 – 4:00-7:30 pm

  • Read With Your Child Day – March 29, 2019

  • Spring Concert – AM Classes – April 29, 2019

  • Spring Concert – PM Classes – May 1, 2019

  • Moments with Mommy ( or significant adult) – May 9, 2019

As we return from Winter Break, kindly remember the importance of daily, on-time attendance.  This consistency develops positive habits and maximizes learning. Parents, if your child will be absent, contact the school’s office to report his/her absence, prior to the start of school.

A new 5 MPH sign has been installed as an important reminder that HELC’s parking lot is where NWLSD’s youngest students walk each day.  Everyone MUST drive and park safely and follow the safety guidelines as outlined in HELC’s Handbook. Any questions or concerns, please ask Mr. Rick Dunn, Ms. Barb Moore, or Mrs. Aimee Murray.

Again, welcome to the New Year!  As your principal, I am passionate about the education of the whole child.  Thank you for your ongoing support as we partner for the success of our students.
