Back to School Letter from Principal Susan Smith

Northwest High School students and parents,

I am looking forward to the upcoming school year, and I know that the staff is anxiously awaiting the return of the students! Please make sure that you sign up to receive the weekly parent emails throughout the year so you are able to stay informed on all that happens at Northwest High School. To sign up, please go to http://nwhs.nwlsd.org/ and scroll to the bottom of the screen. Click on “Sign up for our Email Newsletter”. Once you enter your email and select Northwest High School, you will be enrolled. Also, please sign up on our website for One Call Now to receive text messages and phone calls from our school and district regarding inclement weather and important events. It is so important to stay connected to all that is going on at Northwest High School!

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THE INFORMATION ABOUT MANDATORY ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES FOR ALL STUDENTS (RETURNING AND NEW) FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR THAT IS ENCLOSED! All families will need to go online to complete the information concerning students.

CHANGE TO DRESS CODE FOR 2017-18:

Students are now permitted to wear spirit wear with Northwest branding to school including short and long-sleeved tee shirts. Tops must be yellow, blue, gray or white. Hoodies and full zip jackets are still NOT permitted. We have a new partnership with Queen City Tees to purchase affordable clothing that is in compliance with our dress code. See the enclosed brochure for ordering information.

Please read the enclosed information carefully, and please mark your calendar for these dates:

August 9 – Meet the Team Night Fall Sports – 6 p.m. in the Gym

August 10 - 10th through 12th grade Schedule Pick up and School Picture Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (Picture order forms are included in this mailing.)

August 17 – FROSH FEST - All 9th graders ONLY are to report to school from 7:40 - 2:40 and will also have their school pictures taken that day. See more information in this mailing.

August 18 – All students report to advisory at 7:40 for the first day of school

August 30 - Open House - All parents please plan to attend at 6 p.m.

September 1 – Go Bananas - Pep Rally and 1st Home Football Game of the season

September 4 – Labor Day – No school
