Frosh Fest

Posted on: July 30, 2018

ALL incoming ninth grade students are to report to school on August 21st from 7:40 - 2:40 for their first day at Northwest High School. The day is designed just for our freshmen to help make a successful transition to high school. We are excited to meet all of you!

The agenda for this day includes:

  • Students will get school pictures taken, so please dress accordingly.

  • Schedules will be distributed. Students will get to visit each class and meet each teacher as well as their counselors and administrators.

  • Tours of the building will be given through a scavenger hunt.

  • Ninth graders will meet their Freshmen Mentor Program mentors who will be working with them throughout the year.

  • An activity fair will allow students to learn about clubs, sports and organizations that we offer at Northwest - get involved!

  • Students will practice logging into ProgressBook to learn how to stay updated on their grades, assignments and due dates.

  • Students will meet their advisory teachers who will be with them for four years and participate in ice breakers and learn how the first full day of school works.

  • Lunch will be served as if it were a typical day in the cafeteria.

  • Hear about expectations we have of our students and ways students find success at Northwest - how to have PRIDE in our school

  • Students will be assigned a locker and practice opening it as well as learn organizational strategies for when to go to their lockers and the best route to take to get to classes to not be late.

  • We have a gift for our all our 9th graders as well at the end of the day!
