$8000 to support literacy

Congratulations to Bethany Miller and the Northwest High School library! We were recently awarded an $8000 grant from James Patterson and the Scholastic Reading Club to support literacy with our students.

Mrs. Miller's grant application read, in part,

“The school library should help students develop their own unique strengths. The James Patterson Grant money will help me to build a more diverse collection that addresses the passions, interests and needs of all my students. Specific areas of focus will include books selected for our autism unit, reluctant readers and students reading below grade level, book sets for literature circles, and high interest novels and nonfiction for independent reading. We have amazing students at Northwest High School, and they deserve access to books that will inspire them and make them lifelong readers and learners. The $8000 from James Patterson and Scholastic will go a long way in helping to make that happen.”

The award press release is attached.
