Grade 2 Talent Development Program
The Northwest Local School District is offering an academic enrichment opportunity for students in second grade at all five of our elementary schools. The Grade 2 Talent Development Program is designed to develop higher level thinking skills and has a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focus. Student screening begins at the end of first grade and is based on their math and reading scores, teacher evaluation of their learning and motivational skills, and student work samples. Invitations for the program are sent to families after Fall MAP Testing in second grade (September). We are excited to offer this opportunity to students as an extension of our gifted and talented programming which begins in the third grade.

NWLSD Portrait Of A Graduate
NWLSD is committed to providing our students with the academic content and the real world skills they need to succeed in life. Our students engage in learning experiences in and out of the classroom, which allows for deeper learning. When students engage in deeper learning experiences they are better able to transfer what is learned in the classroom and apply it beyond the walls of the schools.
Interested in contributing to our efforts to ensure that all NWLSD students can engage in deeper learning experiences beyond the classroom? Please consider supporting our efforts and help us spread theword!

We have received a number of questions from our community members about the District and we want to make sure that we are available to share and to answer any questions that anyone may have. We made a commitment to be transparent in our communication and we want to be sure to honor that. One of the ways we plan to do that is to make sure we are accessible to community organizations in our area.
