Class of 2020 Families,
This is a reminder to all students that fourth quarter work is due this Friday by 3 p.m. for seniors! Counselors will contact families of those students who did not earn enough credits to graduate.
I know this is another long email, but please read the following updates carefully:
Written Messages for Seniors
If you would like to include a message for your senior as part of our virtual graduation ceremony, please email the message (20 words or less) to [email protected] by this Friday, May 8th!
Senior Recognition Event
A link to this ceremony will be on the school’s website, or can be viewed using this link www.waycross.tv/northwest or will be on Spectrum channel 4 at 7 p.m. May 7th.
Senior Class Item Return/Distribution Drive Through
On Thursday, May 14, we are asking seniors to return their Chrome books, text books, and library books to avoid being fined for these items. At this time, we will also distribute any awards and the senior banners (currently displayed on the fence at school) to students as well as any items left in student lockers. Everyone must remain in their vehicles for this two-step process, and masks or face coverings are strongly recommended. Students will RETURN all of the items listed above at the back of the building at the garage door located closest to the music rooms. Students will then circle to the front of the building to the main entrance to retrieve their awards and senior banners and any item left in their lockers. This is to avoid cross contamination of items. In order to avoid long lines, we are asking students to report in this way by LAST name:
A-D - 8-9 AM
E-G - 9-10 AM
H -K - 10-11 AM
L- O- 12- 1 PM
P-R- 1-2 PM
S-Z - 2-3 PM
(If you can not make this date or time, we will communicate additional days/times for seniors to return these items.)
The list of students who need to return library books and text books is on the Class of 2020 Google Classroom site, so please check this list prior to May 14th so you know what items to bring with you.
Diplomas can not be released to students who have outstanding fees. Please visit https://payschoolscentral.com/ to make an online payment for your student’s fees. Contact Terri Lonaker at [email protected] if you have questions about your student’s account.
All seniors need to complete a Final Transcript Form. This lets us know where (college or place of employment) to mail your final transcript this summer. Forms are due by this Friday, May 8th! Here is a link (please read the directions carefully): https://forms.gle/TBMBvtT1VWpudWZt5
(This link was also emailed to every senior and is on the Google Classroom site.)

Family Ceremony Appointment Sign-Up Information
In addition to the virtual graduation ceremony that will air May 18th, families have the option to sign up for an appointment for an individual graduate stage crossing opportunity. Each graduate is permitted to invite 6 guests to the appointment. The graduate would make the group 7 total. All guests are required to wear a face covering or mask, will need to sign in upon arrival, and will have their temperature taken at the entrance. Guests with a temperature higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit will not be admitted into the building.
Graduates and guests will then receive an index card with his or her name on it, and will take the card into the Auditorium. Guests will be shown to a designated viewing area in the Auditorium. The student will enter the stage, hand the card to the administrator for his/her name to be read, and will cross the stage. Students will receive a diploma cover from Mrs. Smith, and will have a professional picture taken. Students and guests will then exit the Auditorium and proceed to the hallway for a posed picture in front of our media banner. Students who have returned all district items, and have paid all fees, will then be able to pick up his/her diploma and will return his/her gown. The tassel, cap and white stole are to be kept by the graduate. The group will then exit near the Health Office, so as not to come into contact with the next family entering in the front.
Here is the link to sign up for an appointment: Family Ceremony Sign-Up Site
Families must plan to be on time for appointments, must agree to not congregate in the building or gather in the parking lot, and must comply with the health check process. Refusal to comply with these expectations, or be on time for the appointment, will result in your appointment being cancelled.
*** We will have copies of the graduation ceremony program available for families at your appointment as well.
Thank you for your continued support, and please let me know if you have any questions.
Susan Smith, Principal
