Article: NWLSD Staff Will Receive Second Vaccination on 3/10

NWLSD Staff Will Receive Second Vaccination on 3/10

NWLSD Families,

We want to make sure to keep each of you informed as we get closer to our upcoming vaccination date. As we previously communicated, Northwest Local School District staff will be receiving their second vaccination shot on Wednesday, March 10th from 12 PM to 5 PM.

To ensure that our staff has the proper amount of time to receive their vaccinations, Wednesday, March 10th will be a remote learning day. Information regarding school work and assignments on Wednesday will be communicated by each student’s teacher.

As most are aware, Science does report that most symptoms occur once individuals receive the second shot. While we are hopeful that the majority of our staff will not experience any negative reactions, as a precaution, we will also close school on Thursday, March 11th to allow staff the time to recover from any negative reactions and/or symptoms. Students will not be responsible for any remote learning duties on Thursday.

In order to supply our students with meals during this time, we will make a slight change in our meal distribution.

Meal Pick Up For Remote Learners:
NWLSD’s Food Service Department will be offering 10 breakfasts & 10 lunches on Friday, March 5, 2021 for all virtual students from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM at Taylor Elementary School.  (As you are aware, NWLSD Schools will have an inservice day on Friday, March 12 precluding us from doing a meal pickup that day.  There will be NO meal pickup on 3/12/21.)

Meal Pick Up For In-Person Learners:
NWLSD’s Food Service Department will be offering 3 breakfasts & 3 lunches on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 for in person learners at all elementary and middle school buildings.  High school buildings will distribute the meals on Monday, March 8 as March 9 is ACT day.  Meals will be distributed to all students at school prior to dismissal and will provide 3 days worth of meals for them to consume March 10 - 12.

We appreciate our families’ patience and understanding around this process. We understand that changes to schedules are a bit of an inconvenience; however, we remain thankful to have families who join with us in caring for the health and wellbeing of our dedicated staff.
