Article: CHS 2nd Quarter Update

CHS 2nd Quarter Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this email finds you well. With the end of the second quarter rapidly approaching, there are many important items coming up, including semester exams. Please be sure to read this information carefully, as exams make up 10% of the course grade for the semester. Please take time to review all included information as well as to discuss these items with your student(s). If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s grade level administrator or counselor.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Erin Davis

Principal, Colerain High School

1st Semester Exam Schedule 2021-22

Please review the schedule for first semester exams this year. Please note, we will maintain a regularly scheduled “B Day” on 12/13. There will not be any type of open campus option during exams this semester.

Monday (12/13/21), Tuesday (12/14/21), and Wednesday (12/15/21) are scheduled full days for students. They are expected to be at school during normal school hours (8:00-2:40). Attendance will be taken in all bells.

Thursday (12/16/21) & Friday (12/17/21) students will be released at 10:54 a.m. Students are expected to be present for any scheduled class during this time. They must stay for the entire exam time. Students will not be released early if they finish an exam prior to the end of that bell.

Attendance

Please remember that school starts each day at 8:00 a.m. Students must be in their first class when the bell rings. Any student who is not in their class when the bell rings will need to get a tardy pass from the office. Tardies to school are tracked and discipline is assigned for multiple tardies. School attendance is reported based on hours and minutes students are present. Because of this, it is imperative that students are on time every day.

In the event a student will be absent from school, please directly call our Attendance Phone Line at 513-741-2483. If a student needs to leave early from school, the student’s parent or guardian can send a note in that morning with the student to the Attendance Office to then be provided with an Early Dismissal Pass.

Bell Schedule

Please refer to the calendar below to determine which days throughout the year are assigned as A Days, and which are B Days. Days will not shift due to an unexpected day off of school

A/B Copy of 21 22 Calendar BOE Approved 2/8/21

Below you will find our bell schedule. Students have 4 minutes between classes and should be utilizing their time wisely. Multiple tardies to class do result in school discipline.

2021-2022 CHS Bell Schedule

Chromebooks & Chargers

Please remind your students that it is imperative that they bring their charged Chromebook with them each day. This is the main resource in many classes, and without their device, students run the risk of missing important material and being charged for any further device that they will need to borrow. If a student should forget to charge their Chromebook prior to the start of the school day, please have them bring their charger with them to school.

Dismissal

School dismisses each day at 2:40 p.m. Students are expected to report to their ride or designated area at the end of the day. Students cannot stay in the building unless they have made arrangements to be with a teacher or are being supervised by their coach at practice or a game.

Dress Code

Please be sure that you review our Student Code of Conduct and Handbook for specifics regarding our dress code. Any student in violation of the dress code will be required to change so they are in compliance before being permitted back into class. Please refer to pg. 20 in the CHS Student Handbook for specifics on what type of dress is permitted during the school day.

Drinking Fountains

All of our drinking fountains have been replaced with water bottle filling stations. Please encourage your student to bring a reusable water bottle each day so they have access to water throughout the day.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Students may be dropped off as early as 7:00 a.m. each morning. Please be mindful of the speed limit in the parking lot, as well as designated traffic flow. Students should be dropped off in the front or back lot on our campus. We ask that drivers avoid dropping students off and/or picking up students in private parking lots near campus. Only students who have an active YMCA pass are permitted to be on YMCA property, all others are considered trespassing.

Medication

Please remember that students should not be bringing any type of medication with them to school. Please refer to page 58 of the CHS Handbook for more information.

Progress Book

Please make sure that you are checking Progress Book regularly throughout the year. You can also manage your account to automatically send you notifications regarding low grades and missing work. If you are in need of assistance with logging into your Progress Book account, please contact, Kiarra Stephens [email protected].

Student Fees & Parking Passes

If you have not done so already, please make sure that you’re logging onto PaySchools to pay your student’s school fees. https://payschoolscentral.com/. If you need help with accessing your PaySchools account or paying for a parking pass, please contact Cathy West [email protected].

Any student that drives to school and parks in any parking lot on campus must have a valid 2021-22 parking pass. Those that do not have a valid parking pass are subject to disciplinary action.

CHS PTA & Boosters Association

If you have not done so already, please consider supporting both of these very important organizations. Both the PTA and CHS Boosters provide numerous items for our school each year and we are very grateful for their support; however, both organizations rely heavily on membership.
