Meal Boxes For Thanksgiving Break

NORTHWEST LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL PARTNER WITH CHILDREN’S HUNGER ALLIANCE TO PROVIDE MEAL BOXES OVER THANKSGIVING BREAK

Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) is partnering with Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) to provide NWLSD students with meals over the Thanksgiving Break (November 24th -26th). Meal boxes will be distributed at all of the 11 schools throughout the district on Tuesday, November 23rd at 2:30 p.m. Boxes will be available to any and all students who choose to take one.  Each Meal Box contains a total of six meals composed of two shelf-stable breakfast meals, lunches and dinners. The boxes will be light enough for students to carry on district transportation and for student walkers.

“We are thrilled to have our partnership with CHA. NWLSD is always looking for ways to make sure that our students have access to the resources they need, especially our Food Services Department. Partnerships like these make a world of difference in the lives of our students and their families. Their impact is really felt throughout the holiday season.” said Lisa Robison, NWLSD Food Services Supervisor.

Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to improving food access for kids in Ohio. “Thanksgiving break is a time when many children are at greater risk of experiencing hunger while their school is closed for the holiday break. With the help of our many partners and of course, our community donors, we’re able to help reduce the risk of hunger by providing free meals to these children at many schools across the state,” said  Judy Mobley, President and CEO of CHA.

Children living with food insecurity face increased risks of long-term health conditions like obesity and are more likely to struggle academically. To help mitigate the impact of childhood hunger, CHA works alongside numerous partners, like NWLSD,  across the state to help feed hungry children healthy meals.
