Principal's Message

Posted on: September 3, 2018

Dear Taylor Families,

Welcome to a new and exciting school year!  Along with a new building, you will see many new faces and families joining our Taylor community as well as new programs and opportunities for our students. Mrs. Childress and I are excited to continue the proud traditions of Taylor Elementary. This is my 23rd year in education and I have spent the last 8 years as Principal at Weigel Elementary. Mrs. Childress has spent 18 of her 23 years in education in our district, all at Pleasant Run Elementary where she recently was the Assistant Principal.

One big change you need to be aware of is our extended school day. Our school hours for 2018-2019 are  8:50-3:50. Students can arrive beginning at 8:35. The new staff has been working hard to develop common expectations and procedures that focus on academic growth while still addressing the social, emotional, and physical needs of your child. We look forward to getting to know your student and developing a plan to address their specific needs.

The success of our school is greatly impacted by the support of our families. I encourage you to get involved in as many ways as possible. This can be through volunteer opportunities, attending events at Taylor, or simply talking to your child about their school day and emphasizing the importance of effort in school.  I encourage you to reach out to the staff with any questions or concerns you may have. We all have the same goal and we are much more successful when we are all on the same team.

Mrs. Childress and I are here to ensure your child’s safety and continued academic growth. Please contact us at any time with questions or concerns.

Yours in Education,

Lori Riehle
