Belen Lopez Santos is this week's nominee from Colerain High School for the Cincinnati Enquirer's Student of the Week. Please help us by voting to get this amazing student the recognition she deserves!
Here is the nomination:
Belen Lopez Santos is a Senior at Colerain High School. Belen is a truly inspirational individual. She greets each day with a smile despite the number of hurdles that she must climb on a daily basis. Belen suffers from a condition that greatly affects her ability to see and hear. Belen has learned how to play the piano and violin. She also sings in her church choir and has participated in the CHS Art Club. She is even a DJ on her church radio. Outside of school hours, Belen competes in Braille challenges. The participants are assessed on reading comprehension, speed, accuracy, proofreading, and graph and chart reading. Last year, Belen came in 2nd place overall. The results for this year have not been released yet, but winners will be invited to a national competition in California. She has competed in the Braille Challenge since 4th grade and has been a 2nd-place winner several times. In school, she works three times as hard as anyone does to maintain a stellar classroom performance.
You can vote EVERY HOUR until 2 PM on Friday!
