Change Destructive Adolescent Behavior Parenting Class

Free Parenting Class

Northwest Local School District is partnering with Village Empowerment Community Services for the fifth school year, to offer an intensive 12-week parenting class.

A Parent’s Guide to Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior (CDAB) is the only parent training program that addresses the MOST destructive of adolescent behaviors such as: chronic school truancy, running away from home, taking unhealthy risk, and but not limited to thoughts of experimenting or experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol. The curriculum best supports students 11-18 years old experiencing the above situations.

This program uses the CDAB behavioral model to address the critical issues parents/caregivers face today and offers step-by-step solutions. The curriculum is interactive and builds on learned skills each week. Parents/caregivers will be given the opportunity to work in groups to brainstorm, practice applying new ideas, and build support. Strategies learned in the group will better prepare parents/caregivers to support their child’s social and emotional development.

The program is completely FREE to all parents and caregivers of pre-adolescents and adolescents of the NWLSD community. Participation is mandatory and classes will be closed after the second week. Childcare and dinner will also be provided on a weekly basis.

Families who participate in these workshops will:

• Learn ways to reduce family conflict

• Increase students school attendance rates

• Help students improve school performance

• Find resources to help your family
