Each year Mr. Van Gaasbeek takes 10-15 Northwest HS rising juniors and seniors to Ashland University over the summer to participate in the Ashbrook Academy. The students spend a week on campus, stay in the dorms, have meals provided by the dining hall, and receive 2 hours of elective college credit for their coursework. This year our students participated in courses centering on American History, Crime Scene Investigation, the Philosophy and Chemistry of the Atomic Bomb, the Psychology of Good and Evil, and Capitalism v. Socialism. Our students performed exceptionally well in a very competitive and challenging academic environment.
