Congratulations to Northwest High School's Daniel Howard on being selected for the 2027 OMEA All-State Jazz Band!

Out of nearly 600 applicants statewide, Daniel was chosen as one of just 18 students in Ohio to earn a spot in this elite ensemble. His achievement is particularly remarkable considering his journey: Daniel only began playing the trumpet as a high school freshman. Today, he is one of the top five high school jazz trumpet players in the state.

Daniel’s passion for jazz began in 2023 when Northwest High School Band Director Tim Huening founded the school’s jazz band. Inspired by that experience, Daniel went on to pursue further training with the renowned UC College-Conservatory of Music high school jazz ensemble.

Congratulations to Daniel on this extraordinary accomplishment, and a sincere thank you to Mr. Huening for his dedication to expanding opportunities in the arts for our students!
