As we wrap up our 4th week of school we are excited as we've seen students continue to find ways to get involved and support others in their belonging, learning and achievement. Our teachers have really been able to dig into the content in their classes and find out what our students are strong at and need improvement on. As we enter our next four weeks we hope to see the same level of focus and effort from all of our students, as we then cap it off with our Homecoming Celebration on October 2nd.
Attendance Matters
Missing more than 2 days a month, 8 days a semester or 16 days in a year creates the extreme likelihood that students will fail a class and also increases their chances of not graduating high school.
Please find every opportunity to schedule appointments outside of the school day or bring students to school during the other part of the day they have an appointment.
Parking Passes
Any student parking on campus must fill out an application in the office and pay the fee on infinite campus. Students may not leave during the day or go to the parking lot.

You must have not missed more than 3 days of school
No out of School suspensions
Lunch/Deliveries
As a reminder no students should be leaving campus during lunch and no food deliveries are allowed at any time. Food will be confiscated and discipline will be issued.

What would the 1.5% earned income tax levy pay for?
Staff salaries and benefits
Purchasing educational supplies and technology
Maintaining and cleaning 1.3 million square feet of school facilities
Funding extracurricular activities and programs
Other operating costs
2. Why is the district asking for this levy now?
The district has begun deficit spending in the current and prior fiscal years, and financial forecasts show that trend continuing. Without additional revenue, the district will need to cut approximately $7 million in programs and services each year beginning in the 2027-2028 school year.
3. Is this a new or additional tax?
No. 60% of this levy is NOT an increase; it simply renews the existing emergency levy tax structure that has been in place since 2012. This levy will help NWLSD avoid making reductions to programs or services, ensuring that our district is able to continue to offer the education that our community expects.
4. How does the district currently spend its operating dollars?
72% goes directly to classroom instruction
21% supports operations like transportation and maintenance
7% supports administration
The district also states it is among the lowest 20% of Ohio districts in operating expenses per pupil.
5. Who pays the tax?
Any individual residing all or part of a tax year in the school district. Non-residents of the school district are not subject to the tax, even if they work within the district's boundaries. Corporations are also exempt from the tax.
6. What income is taxed?
With an Earned Income Tax, residents are levied on their adjusted gross income (AGI), excluding retirement and investment income.
