Mrs. Pam Detzel has been a member of the Northwest Local School Board since 1998. Mrs. Detzel has been married to her husband Jim Detzel for 33 years and they have three daughters - Ashley, Brittany and Lyndsay. This year has been an exciting year for the Detzel’s as they welcomed their grandson Gavin (a future Monfort Heights Musketeer)to their family. Pam is co-owner of the Detzel Insurance Agency. She enjoys spending time with her family, the theater, music, traveling, fantasy football and being actively involved in the Northwest Local School District!

This is a very exciting time to be a resident of the Northwest Local School District. With great determination and a lot of hard work, we successfully passed our Bond/Operating Levy this past November. I have the pleasure of serving on our building committee and it is so energizing to see representation from all aspects of our community working together. Our students deserve the very best! State of the art buildings is only the beginning! My wish remains the same….. I wish all of our community members would take the time to visit one of our schools in the Northwest Local School District to see first-hand the many challenges and success stories that we face on a daily basis. Better yet, VOLUNTEER! Our dedicated staff work hard each and every day to provide a quality education for ALL STUDENTS! We have students that excel both in and out of the classroom. Many of our graduates join the armed services, attend a 2 or 4 year university and/or move directly into the workforce. Our students have the opportunity to learn specific skills by attending Butler Tech Programs. We have numerous award winning fine arts programs as well as athletic teams. Each year our Seniors earn millions of dollars in scholarship money to further their education. Our students learn at a very early age the importance of volunteering. I am very proud of our students and staff.

We must continue to not only improve our test scores, but to make sure we are meeting the needs of ALL of our students and families. Providing additional time and dollars for staff development is crucial! Creating more opportunities to work with our families so together we can address all the needs both in and out of the classroom. In this day and age another priority has to be safety! I am proud to say that our district has worked with the local police and fire departments for years creating contingency plans in case of emergencies. Our crisis intervention team meets at least twice a year to review and update these procedures as needed. We also include our neighboring parochial and private schools so that we can all work together to ensure everyone is as prepared as possible. We have also improved the entrances at all of our buildings to be as secure as possible. Safety is at the top of the list as we begin the design phases of our new buildings.

I want to thank our entire community for the overwhelming support they showed on election day this past November! We are going to continue to work hard in and out of the classroom each and everyday! Also, remember you can make a difference in the life of a child. Call one of our schools today to see how you can help.
