PRE Focusing on Literacy

PRE Families,
The students and teachers have been focusing on literacy.  We are excited to start our Winter MAP testing this week and show you how much we have learned this year so far!  Each morning we start our day with a poem.  The students love the funny poems the most but we also expose them to poems about culture, weather, art, and animals.  This is something you can ask your students about each evening.  Poetry is a wonderful way to introduce a variety of vocabulary to students of all ages.

We thought you would enjoy the following website:  http://www.daybydayoh.org/january/january-13

This page has literacy activities for every day of the month for the entire year.  There are book suggestions, videos, activities, and songs that go along with a monthly theme.  If you are looking for something for your beginner or struggling reader to access at home this would be a great place to start!

Happy reading!

NWLSD Community, 'Thank You for Your Support'

Thank you to our community. It is a privilege for our school district to be a part of this caring community. A strong community forges strong schools. Our students and staff are beyond blessed. It has been a very long road. Our parents, employees, board members and Community Partners for Education committee members and volunteers have put in a tremendous amount of work to accomplish this feat, but in the end, we know that the sweat and tears were worth it.
