Greetings Houston Early Learning Center families!

We are gearing up for another great year here at HELC!  You will see some new faces on staff this school year.  It’s exciting to be growing larger each year.  We love to be able to teach a larger number of students.  It is a great time to be a Houston Panda!

Returning families will notice some changes around the building, and we hope you enjoy these changes.  Thank you to all of the families that filled out a survey at your July screening meetings.  We are taking your feedback to offer families opportunities to connect and get involved at new levels.  You offered great input and we are listening!

This year you will notice a “Shining Star” bulletin board in the main hallway.  Teachers will be using this space to recognize students and their talents throughout the school year.  Each child has his/her own unique strengths and interests and we want to spotlight that.  You will also be able to pick up a “Staff Shout Out” form in the office.  If you’d like to offer a note of appreciation for a staff member for the board, please complete one of these forms and return it to the office.  I will change these from time to time throughout the year as well.  Many of you have voiced your appreciation of staff members to me and I want to offer a way for you to share this with everyone.

Please follow us on Twitter again this year @HELCPandas.  We love to keep in touch!

A few reminders to make the year as successful as possible:

  • Attendance is very important.  Once again we will honor students with perfect attendance each trimester.  Note: Late arrivals and early dismissals count against attendance.
  • Please be cautious and safe in the parking lot.  We are growing, but our parking lot has not.  Please be respectful of one another.
  • We welcome parent/guardian involvement.  Please be sure to talk to your child’s teachers about ways you can become involved at HELC.
  • Communication is key.  Our primary method of communication is through your child's "Take Home" folder.  Please be sure to check this each and every day.

Let’s have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Emily Stepaniak
